Throwing scraps away makes me feel icky, so I've been looking for some fun little things to make with bits of my "left-overs". I know there are other little birdie ornament patterns out there--a lovely little one is in Last Minute Quilted Gifts, but I wanted mine to be more bluebirdish, which is to say, plumper. I did some sketching and some drafting and this little birdie is what I came up with. It would be great in holiday colors for a tree, but I was thinking of harvest time when I created it--thus the orange and brown. I'll get a little pattern together to share. I'm also thinking the birdie would be cute made of just two pieces--maybe linen or felt--easier to make, too. I'll get the pattern on a link soon.

Love the fabric on this bird! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Carrie from Dixie Mango and I'm in your Sew Craft Blog group. Have you seen the bird on lollychops.typepad.com? So cute too!
What a clever use of scraps of fabric! Turned out really nice!

Ooh I like the pattern you drafted for your bird. He's quite lovely! :D
Hi,
just wondering if you could share your pattern. I would like to make a mobile for my baby's room, and I love your bird! I think it would be so sweet with a bunch of them hanging from a twig, or a grape vine wreath, maybe with nest added.
thanks so much.
